Degg's Model

Martin Degg is a lecturer who created this model. It was used in the British Red Cross resource which was mentioned earlier in the blog, and is useful way of thinking about natural hazards as a situation where there is an overlap of the two circles. The other useful model is Park's model. See if you can find a copy of this one in a textbook that you might be using. Both of the models explores the overlap between the cause of the hazard, and the factors that help it to become one, and those that help to reduce the risks involved. OCR 'A' and 'B' Revision Guides

These are available to purchase from various places, and published by Hodder. They are the companion to the books that I co-wrote, and have a link through to the answers (which I also co-wrote and are available online) They match the books very well and have some useful additional activities and are helpful to recap on topics previously taught. I worked on some of the answers to the questions in these as well, and they should be appearing very soon online. I'll let you know when they arrive. Our students will be getting a copy of these to assist with revision.

Firefly pages for King's Ely students to use

King's Ely students will have access to a range of resources to support them through the course. This will include the textbook (of course) and supporting handouts and hard copies of resources . There will also be fieldwork opportunities and skills sessions. We will have access to some of the supporting materials that were written to go along with the textbook's development. You will find the Year 10 resources here (login required) The introduction to Year 10 is here. It's also worth noting that we have a Twitter feed for the department. This will feature relevant tweets and any students who use this should follow the feed to get regular updates which will be helpful. We've also produced a PINTEREST board of stimulus images which will develop as we go through the year, and a Flipboard magazine as mentioned in a previous post. We shall also be using the #ocrbgeog hashtag for content that I add to any social media online. This will allow for relevant search...
