Leeds - premier league and local economy

After many years of trying, it was finally success for Leeds as they returned to the Premier League.
This is going to result in a financial bonus for the city, although coronavirus will affect the attendance at games which will impact on this for things like overnight stays at nearby chain hotels, meals in pubs, sales in the shop, car parking, sales of programmes etc.

There are estimates of £3 million per home game.

The local economy of the city is set to benefit in other ways as well. More details here.

The Premier League contributes £7.6bn to the UK economy, with 100,000 jobs supported by the league and its 20 clubs. It is the most-watched sports league in the world, broadcast in 212 territories to 643 million homes and a
potential TV audience of 4.7 billion people.
